Noise Guidelines

The Montgomery College Library is committed to providing a welcoming environment that is conducive to a variety of study needs. Due to the diverse architecture at the library, not all zones can be found at each location.

Please keep noise to a minimum throughout the library, be respectful and considerate of others at all times, and refer to the following guidelines.

Active Learning Zone and Group Study Rooms

Moderate Noise: Conversation-level talking and group work permitted. Library users in this zone should maintain a reasonable indoor speaking volume and use audio devices in ways that will not disturb others.

Quiet Zone

Whispered conversations and individual study is permitted.  Place your cell phone on silent. Silent cell phone use (texting) is allowed. Audio devices should be used with headphones that are inaudible to other library users.

Silent Zone

No talking permitted. Place your cell phone on silent. Silent cell phone use (texting) is allowed. Audio devices should be used with headphones that are inaudible to other library users.
