Use of the MC Library Space for Events and Programs

In keeping with the Montgomery College and library mission, vision, and values, programming and events hosted in the libraries must support the academic activities of the Montgomery College community. Library Space Guidelines

  • At least one adult 18 years of age or older must be present at the event.
  • The host is responsible for ensuring space capacity limits are not exceeded.
  • Private events such as birthday parties or other social activities are not permitted.
  • No personal merchandise of any kind can be sold on library premises.
  • Any promotional items, including brochures, flyers, radio and TV announcements, newspaper ads, etc., must carry the name and telephone number of the individual or organization sponsoring the meeting. The library may not be identified or implied as a sponsor, unless previously agreed.
  • All members of the host organization and attendees must leave the building by closing time.
  • Arrangements for any facility needs, such as furniture set-up or receptacle requests, should be made with the Office of Facilities at the time of booking.
  • Library spaces must be left in the same condition as found at the beginning of the event. Trash must be placed in the receptacles provided and tables and chairs left in the arrangement found at the beginning of the event. 

Library management reserves the right to monitor compliance with these regulations. Questions can be referred to the Director of Library and Information Services, Suzette Spencer, at suzette.spencer@montgomerycollege.edu. MC Library will make final decisions on requests for use of library spaces and reserves the right to review and make changes to these guidelines as necessary.
