Technology and Study Spaces at the MC Library

Montgomery College Library and the Office of Information Technology are committed to providing quality technology resources to support the MC community. Outlined below are key technology resources available at the library and guidelines for their use. In addition to those outlined, each library has print kiosks and Wi-Fi throughout our spaces.

Mac and PC Computers

Learn about computer workstations and software available in the library.

Each library has both Mac and PC computers for use. Those affiliated with the College will log in using their M number and last name. Computer sessions last for two hours. Students may log in for three sessions (six hours) per day.

When the session expires, the computer will automatically restart and all files will be removed. Once the computer restarts, there is no way to recover files. Make sure to use an external source to save your work (cloud storage option, such as OneDrive/Google Drive, or a USB).

Macs

Our Macs use OS Sierra and have the following software applications:

Microsoft Office 2019
Pages, Numbers, and Keynote
Photoshop
Dreamweaver
InDesign
Illustrator
Premiere Pro
Adobe Acrobat

PCs

Our PCs use Windows 10 and have the following software applications:

Microsoft Office 2019

Scanners

 Learn about our scanners.

Each library has two kinds of scanners:

  • High-Speed Scanners (Zeta Scanners): ideal for high-volume scanning or scanning pages from books.
  • Flatbed Scanners: ideal for scanning small quantities.

Instructions for use are located near each scanner.  Users can print, email, or save their scanned files.

Laptop & Tablet Loans

Learn how you can borrow a laptop or tablet from the library.

For those students who prefer a portable computer, each library loans laptops and tablets for two hours at a time with two renewals allowed (for a total of six hours per day). Laptops and tablets are for in-library use only and students must sign an agreement before borrowing.

The laptops and tablets have the same file removal procedures as the desktops, and files cannot be recovered once the computer shuts down.

One Button Studio

Learn how to quickly and easily create high-quality videos.

Students, faculty, and staff have access to the One Button Studio to record videos. You can reserve a session for up to two hours. See the One Button Studio Guidelines for more information.
